"Going to Poland was a capricious decision. The sort
you make, when you have a lot of free time, and you are trying to figure out
what life is all about. The gravity of it though only hit me, when I witnessed
the look of sheer ludicrousness on my mother's face. All I could think of was
vodka, women and work, conveniently forgetting the winter.
I flew into Warsaw, five months after that. Every single
pre-conceived notion I landed with was shattered. It was here that I met the
others, twenty two of them from fifteen different countries, talk about
diversity in a nightclub. We were going to work together for the next three
months, going to High Schools, interacting with Polish students, and
eventually aiming to foster the growth of entrepreneurship amongst the youth,
all of this in a city called Poznan in the west of Poland.
We worked four days a week, subdivided into groups of five,
and went to a different school every two days, weekends were spent traversing
the country, our motley crew made it to every city in Poland. We lived, dined
and wined with each other and became the center of one another’s
existences.
All good things do come to an end, my story is no
different. We departed, in one’s and two’s, each to their own, some went back
home, some further on in their travels, one stayed back, enticed by the charms
of a frozen land. I spent a few more months, backpacking around, still
figuring what I wanted to do with my life, wiser and happier to the fact that
I had a place to stay in fifteen different countries the next time I went
wandering." - Hrishabh Sandilya
